Meet The Designer

I'm Beverley, 

I studied Fashion Design and Marketing at University and have been selling Bridal wear in my boutique in Hampshire since 2003. 

I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a designer and would spend hours sketching. I was always encouraged to follow that passion and I remember an assembly at school where my head teacher told us all if you don’t know what you want to do for a living, ask yourself what do you think about all day and do that! Do what you love for a living and you will never work a day in your life. I think this why I pursued fashion. My thoughts were someone designs the clothes I wear and I want to be that person. 

The creative designer in me has found it extremely frustrating over the years, knowing what brides want but not being able to buy labels to sell in my shop that cater for different body shapes. 

In 2016 I decided to focus my attention on the Curvy Brides who would come to me, at their wits end, not being able to find dresses their size to try on. My wonderful brides inspired me to design my own collection and Bellucci Bride was born in 2022. 

This collection, like no other, is designed purely with a plus size or curvy figure in mind. I sample these designs not in size 18 but size 26 and try each dress on real brides before I put it into production. This way every single design is perfected. The backs are adjusted to offer support and coverage if required, the sleeves are cut to the exact length to cover the top of the arm that so many of my brides want to hide. The necklines don’t happen by chance, they are carefully considered to elongate the body and neck making the Bride appear taller and leaner. 

As a designer for many years, working in London for high street brands, my strength was always when I designed with a problem to solve or a very specific market or occasion in mind. I don’t like to design “for the sake of it.” 

I have found my calling designing plus size wedding dresses and the added bonus is I get to meet the loveliest curvy brides to be who are so happy and grateful to have found a collection that not only is in their size, but is also designed to flatter enhance and support their curves. I love to chat and it’s through these casual conversations in my shop that new designs develop. 

Word has got out and with the fantastic power of social media, Bellucci Bride is destined to be sold through other bridal shops internationally this year.
